March 8 update: Karen sent over more information about Robot Week at Edison Elementary which I have converted into a 1 page information sheet. The PDF document is availble for download at the bottom of this page. Note: Event hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM, including lunch and presentations. Doors open at 8:00 AM for setup. ChiBots is scheduled to present on Monday March 18, 2013.

Two fantastic events are coming up!

The first is Robot Week at Edison Elementary, a school located in Elmhurst. This event will feature a variety of show and tell event where various robots will be showcased and demoed for the school’s eager student body. Additionally, the event has on its schedule a live video conference with NASA to talk about space bots.

Karen S., one of the people involved in this project is looking for help. The event is looking for people who can come to the school and be part of the show and tell events, share any fun and useful root experience or simply talk to the kids about robots. One of her ideas is to put together a “robot museum” so the kids can see real robots that have a useful purpose. Karen’s guide for the robot museum are the  competitions that Chibots has, so if you have a line follower, maze solver, Mini Sumo, LEGO sumo or any robot.

The second event in which Karen is also involved is the STEM Career Week at York Community High School, also in Elmhurst. This event will feature conferences and panels where invited guests will talk and discuss with students different aspects of science, technology and engineering. The school’s goal is to connect what the students learn in the classroom to what is happening in the real world.

Again, help is needed. If you would like to enthusiastically motivate students to pursue a career in a technical field then this event is the perfect venue.
